Moving On

Home Sweet Home?Although rare, occasionally things come together more easily than you planned. I found a new apartment that takes large dogs in a decent enough neighborhood! It’s a 2nd floor two bedroom in an old Victorian building downtown, with hardwood floors and a back porch. No fireplace, unfortunately, but the price was right. It’s also not much farther away from the shop and the places my local friends live than where I’m currently living.

I happened to mention all this to a friend and former housemate. As it turns out, he was also getting ready to move, so we decided to share the place, making it super affordable. I’ll be moving this weekend around the 21st, a little over a week earlier than I have to. I’m so relieved about everything, and excited about the move.

On a less happy note, I’m worried about Kerby. For a couple weeks he hasn’t been enthusiastic about eating and not eager to go out, although he’s still acting playful intermittently. He was also limping around a bit for a few days. Possibly he slipped when jumping off the bed (the floors here are extremely slippery) and hurt something, but he also had a patellar luxation (knee injury) as a puppy that I was told could be problematic later on. Or, he may just be getting arthritic with age, or developing the hip dysplasia common to his breed. I’m giving him dog-formula aspirin for now, and switched him to food with added glucosamine and chondroitin, but if things don’t get better we’ll have to go see a vet.

Poor Kerbster. Try the glucosamine & chrondroitin tabs as well; the amounts in those foods isn’t terribly high. Also, heating pads. And cuddles . Also - OMFGJFC!!!!!1111 - http://plasticlady.com/discuss/read.php?f=1&i=1631&t=1631. (This is totally off topic. Hi!)

I need some glucosamine and chondriotin supplements too, I could hear my knee making a weird noise when I was going up the stairs after my workout yesterday. Eek!

Nyomi: There is a gel made from the herb arnica that I use on my furbuddy when he limps around. It is cheap, and if they lick it off it won’t hurt them. Easily obtained at Country Health in Elsmere. Seems to take the soreness away overnight. Hope Kerby feels better soon.
